The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has a mission to increase homeownership, support community development and increase access to affordable housing free from discrimination. In doing so, they publish statistical income information by city or regional market. The statistical information is shared with lenders to establish lending guidelines for each market.

The following table shows the most recent median income level for the Kansas City region. Financing programs will issue loans ranging from 30% to 100% of the median income.
