Program Overview


Rural First-time Homebuyer Program is a program that provides a $4,000 forgivable loan for down payment and/or closing cost assistance as well as rehabilitation assistance. The program is available in a rural areas of Kansas. For more information, contact Utika Scales at 866-571-8155


Who is eligible for this program?


Cannot have owned a home within 3 years. Must have a household income of less than 80% of area median income. Must attend a Homebuyer Education Workshop prior to purchasing the house. Borrower required to provide a minimum of $500 in purchase transaction. 80% area median income.

Funds can be used for down payment, closing costs and/or rehabilitation of the home.

Benefit Details


Grant is available from participating bank members of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka. For more information, call the Federal Home Loan Bank at 1-866-571-8155 or email Utika Scales at utika.scales@fhlbtopeka.com A $4,000 second mortgage (no interest or payments). The mortgage will be forgiven at 20% each year and completely forgiven after five years.
